Greg Romero is a playwright and theater artist, originally from Louisiana.His plays, site-specific projects, and experimental live events have been presented in U.S. cities of New York, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Dallas, Austin, Denver, Washington DC, Louisville, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Anchorage, as well as internationally in Victoria, British Columbia and Kingston, Jamaica.
Romero's collaborations with electronic music composer Mike Vernusky have been produced live in New York, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Austin, and Baltimore, while also receiving airplay in Toronto, Ontario; Manchester, England; and Zurich, Switzerland.
Romero has been a semi-finalist for the Princess Grace Award, twice a finalist for the Heideman Award, and nominated for the F. Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theater Artist. He was selected as the first-ever Resident Writer of the ArtsEdge Residency as well as one of three writers to inaugurate the Philadelphia Dramatists Center/Plays & Players Playwriting Residency.
His works are published by Heinemann Press, YouthPLAYS, and Playscripts, Inc. and he is a proud alum of the WordBRIDGE Playwrights Lab and The Last Frontier Theater Conference.
Romero received a BA in Liberal Arts from the Louisiana Scholars' College and an MFA in Playwriting from The University of Texas-Austin where he held the James A. Michener Fellowship.
